Re: Staploe Education Trust –  Consultation of Admission Arrangements

In accordance with the procedures detailed in the School Admissions Code (2014), Section 1.42.  Staploe Education Trust is consulting on the Admissions Policies for: Soham Village College, Kennett Primary School, The Shade Primary School and The Weatheralls Primary School.

This consultation with regard to changes to the Admissions Policies for these schools will run from 12th November 2019 and to conclude at midnight on Tuesday 24th December 2019.

We would welcome your views on the proposed admission arrangements, which introduce the following changes for admission from September 2021 for the academic year 2021 – 2022 and thereafter.

Soham Village College:

  1. The amendment of criteria 2 – Children living in the area served by the following primary schools with a sibling already at the college at the time of admission – to add in The Shade Primary School.
  2. The amendment of criteria 4 – update of the definition of siblings
  3. The insertion of a new criterion relating to the children of staff, to be criteria 6, as follows:

Priority will next be given to children of staff at the school, in either of the following circumstances:

  1. a) The member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or
  2. b) The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage

Kennett Primary School:  

  1. The amendment of criteria 2 & 4 – update of definition of siblings
  2. The insertion of a new criterion relating to the children of staff, to be criteria 5, as follows:

Priority will next be given to children of staff at the school, in either of the following circumstances:

  1. a) The member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or
  2. b) The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage

Recipients are welcome to respond to this consultation by emailing comments relating to the proposed admissions arrangements as set out above to Mrs Kate Tye, Executive PA: admissionsconsultation@staploeeducationtrust.org.uk  Please state in your email which school your comments relate to.  A hardcopy of the proposed admissions policy are available upon request.

On conclusion of the consultation on 24 December 2019 all responses will be collated and presented to the Trust Board for full consideration.  The outcome will then be notified to all parents/carers by 27 January 2020 and the full report will be available on our website.
